StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void - Liberator Spotlight! (4K)

The Liberator got added to StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void. This unit will be the last unit added to StarCraft 2 and is available as a Starport unit for Terran in the Legacy of the Void expansion.

The unit can be created out of a Starport without an addon and can be produced two at a time with a reactor, however, in order to use the ground attack (AG Mode) you will need to research it in a Starport with a Techlab.

The Liberator has two different attacks. First off it has an air-to-air anti-air splash damage attack as soon as it comes out of the Starport. On top of that, after researching the AG Weapon mode the unit can siege up and deal slow high damage single-target damage to ground units. Only one of the modes can be active at a time, either to air to ground.

The cost of the Liberator is high. It is right between a Banshee and a Raven, at a 150 Minerals and 150 Vespene Gas in 43 seconds. This makes the unit a commitment, as producing them doesn't just take a lot of time, you will also have to get some value out if it.

The movement speed is set at 4.72, which is relatively fast. While the unit can not shoot and attack at the same time, you can still take out clumps of Mutalisks and Corrupters or Void Rays and Phoenixes with relative ease if you catch them off guard.

On top of that, the latest patch also split up the air and ground research for the Terran mechanical units. This means that Terran players will either commit to factory units, or a combination of air units. The Liberator will work well in combination with Vikings, Banshees, Ravens and Battlecruisers.
